Flower shape pumpkin and spinach buns

I always love to try out breads with different colours, that too using natural colours. Tried this flower shaped buns with some natural colours..let's see how




Ingredients
Whole wheat flour.                        2 cups
Honey.                                           1 tblspn
Yeast.                                             1 tspn 
Unflavored oil.                               4 tblspn
Pumpkin puree.                             1/2 cup
Spinach puree.                              1/2 cup
Pumpkin seeds
 Salt to taste
Lukewarm water as required


Method


  • Boil few pieces of diced pumpkin and blend it  to get 1/2 cup of puree.
  • Blanch few spinach leaves, and blend to get 1/2 cup  puree.
  • Activate yeast using  honey and lukewarm water.
  • Take 1 cup flour, salt add pumpkin puree 2 tblspn oil and half of activated yeast and knead a soft n stucky dough with stretch and pull method by adding water as required.
  • It should be kneaded for atleast 10 minutes, keep it aside for first proofing in a well greased tin till it doubles.
  • Same process to be followed for remaining flour with spinach puree.
  •  After the first proofing, take both doughs and punch it and knead for 2 minutes.
  • Cut into 10-12 equal portions of both dough.
  • Shape it into small buns and place them alternately in a tray/tin to form a flower shape.
  • Give a milk wash /egg wash and place pumpkin seeds as u want .
  • Cover with a cloth and leave it for second proofing for 30-40 minutes.
  • During the last 10 minutes of proofing preheat the oven, and bake the buns at 200 degree for 30-40 minutes.
  • Apply butter when they are still warm and cover with a damp cloth and let it cool down.



Notes

  1. I have used cup size 250 ml.
  2. Pumpkin seeds are optional.
  3. You can use any seeds for beautifying purpose.
  4. Try to use the orange pumpkin to get good colour.
