Mixed (nuts & cereals) chikki

January 14th (Uttarayan) is on the doorstep. All are fond of eating chikki during this time of the year. Normally people make peanuts, sesame, mamra chikki. Try something different this year. A more healthier version of chikki.

Ingredients
Sesame (til)                                          1 cup
Oats                                                      1 cup
Wheat flakes                                       1 cup
Crushed peanuts                                ½ cup
Jaggery                                                2-3 cups
Elaichi powder                                    1 spoon
Jaifal Powder  (nutmeg)                     1 spoon
Water                                                   3-4 cups
Cooking Oil                                         1 spoon
Ghee to grease the plate




Method

·         Dry roast sesame and oats separately till they turn brown in colour.
·         Boil water and add jaggery to it and mix well.
·         Once the jaggery starts melting add elaichi powder, jaifal (nutmeg) powder, oil and mix properly and let it cook and mix for 3-4 minutes.
·         Add curshed peanuts, oats, sesame and mix well.
·         Lastly add the crushed wheat flakes and once again mix.
·         Apply ghee on a plate and grease well, pour the mixture on to the plate and allow it to cool and cut into small square pieces and serve.
Note

  • The consistency of the mixture should be neither too thin nor too thick.
  • V should be easily able to pour it to the plate.
  • The mixture becomes thick as it cools down.
