No Yeast Cheese and Herbs bread

When we think of bread it is always with the help of yeast is what is the general opinion, but here is recipe which is without yeast. This one is a cheese and herbs bread which smells like a pizza made with whole wheat flour.....the best part is it is a quick recipe as no need for proofing!!

Ingredients

  1. Whole wheat flour              400 gms (approx 3.5 cups)
  2. Milk powder                         2 tablespoon
  3. Powdered sugar                    1 tablespoon
  4. Unflavoured refuned oil       3 tablespoon
  5. Thick curd                            2 tablespoon
  6. fruit salt                                4 teaspoon
  7. Grated cheese                       1 cup
  8. mixed herbs                           2 tablespoon
  9. salt to taste

Method

  • Preheat the oven @200 degrees
  • In a large bowl take whole wheat flour, milk powder, powdered sugar, oil, curd, cheese, herbs, salt and fruit salt and knead into a soft dough by adding water as required.
  • Please keep aside little bit of cheese and herbs for sprinkling on the loaf.
  • Knead it thoroughly by stretching it properly for about 10-12 mins till you get a smooth dough and shape it into log as per your tin size.
  • Grease the loaf tin and place the log in it and press it gently with the back side of your palm to give it a shape and tighten it.
  • Give it a generous milk/egg wash and spinkle grated cheese and herbs over it.
  • Bake it in the preheated oven @ 200 degrees for about 40 mins or till it is done.
  • Bread should sound hollow when tapped.
  • Apply butter on the loaf immediately after its done, cover it with a damp cloth for some time to cool down.
  • Once cooled down slice it and enjoy the cheesy, herby, pizza smelling bread.

Notes

  • My measurement cup is 250 ml, please note that the flour is 400 gms only.
  • Curd should be sour.
  • Fruit salt ratio is 2 teaspoon or half sachet to 200 gms flour so accordingly take as per your flour. Please take extra care with fruit salt as more quantity may damage the taste of bread.
  • Know your oven so listen to it and bake according to your oven as each oven is different
  • Red chilli flakes can also be added for those who love spicy bread and like the flavour.
